Great Central Valley ReVue

The intentions of this Blog are scattered and profound. I expect to cover the growth and development of the Great Central Valley of California. The San Joaquin and Sacramento valleys are growing quickly and changing form an agriculturally focused economy to one more diverse--government, technology, tourism, service. I am no economist, nor am I a planner of any sort. However, I will endeavor to provide my comments towards anything I feel is important in the Central Valley.

I may have a slight slant in some of my documentation. I love sports. I most likely will devote a significant amount of space towards college and professional sports in the valley. At some point I will analyze the importance of sports towards a region's economy and growth. However, you have to look at some of our cities and realize sports are extremely important. Sacramento is flirting with the issues of building a $400-500 million arena for the Maloofs, owners of the beloved Kings. Stockton recently built a downtown baseball stadium and is building an arena inorder to revitalize downtown. Fresno, Modesto, and West Sacramento recently built or renovated stadiums. Also, more spritually connected to a region, will the Monarchs win the WNBA championship? Will the Pacific Tigers continue to dominate the Big West in Men's Basketball? Will Sacramento State drop football? How is UC Davis progressing towards D-1, and will Chico State or CSU Bakersfield follow? Are the Oakland A's interested in moving to Sacramento?

Well, you see my passion. I'll try to also comment on transportation issues, the growth of cities, Arnold, the loss of farmland, crime, and other things. I hope it is a great experience.
